About us

The Serapis research framework has been set up by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) to provide government with an expedient mechanism to service all research requirements in command, control, communications, computers, information/intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (C4ISR) and space systems, synthetic environments and simulation technology.

Serapis Lot 6 titled Understand covers the development of data analytics and information processing tools and techniques in support of Defence’s decision making processes and techniques.

Our approach

Our vision for Lot 6 Understand is to contribute to delivering military advantage and national resilience through smarter, more agile utilisation of capability.

We will lead, manage and deliver world class exploitable research for defence and other clients, through accessing a diverse range of expertise, including the non-traditional defence suppliers.

As the prime contractor for Understand, Frazer-Nash Consultancy, in collaboration with our partners Roke Manor Research, Digital Catapult and University of Birmingham, will exploit the benefits of a robust supply network to draw on research, capabilities and skills across Industry and Academia to provide technical support and innovative solutions to our customers.

We therefore encourage suppliers from all backgrounds to register interest including established defence suppliers, technology companies new to defence, small and medium Enterprises (SMEs) and academic institutions.
