My biography
Over the last ten years, I have worked across a wide range of industries applying modelling and analytical methods to provide understanding of complex problems and systems. My speciality is in the development and adaption of modelling techniques to challenging questions, providing clear evidence to support decision making and safety cases.
I started my career working in the nuclear industry, providing fault studies analyses of reactors and developing methods for calculating graphite temperatures. This work underpins multiple nuclear safety cases providing evidence for safe operation beyond and outside of the original design intent.
Over the last six years, I have taken the techniques and methods I learnt in the nuclear industry and have applied them to a wide range of different sectors. For example, I currently involved in:
- A novel whole cost model of the Covid-19 pandemic
- A risk and logistic toolset which underpins a service to the UK Army
- Analysis of a proposed freight depot site, looking at the impact of different factors upon the depots ability to deliver maintenance
- Development of a tool to predict delays upon the UK rail network.
A key strand to all of these projects is that they provide useful information upon which decisions can be made, helping complex scenarios become easier to understand and manage.
